Dan Shiloh
Born in Jerusalem in 1945
Graduate of Officers Nautical School in Acre, Israel. 1959-1963
Served in the Israeli Navy. 1963- 1965
Graduate in Architecture from the University of Illinois Chicago. 1965-1972
Upon graduation as an architect in 1972, I returned to Israel and started working in Tel Aviv’s leading architectural firms. In 1976 I moved to the Galilee region and opened an architectural firm with some partners in Moshav Yaad south of Carmiel. The firm became one of the largest in Israel. In 1990 I opened a contracting company with my partners that built housing, Industrial and commercial projects in the Galilee and the rest of the country, most of which were designed by my architectural firm.
In 2007 I retired and moved to Haifa and opened a blacksmithing studio dealing with metal sculptures. This venture started my artistic career. In 2009 I moved to Tel Aviv and started painting at home and under the direction of the museum of Tel Aviv coached by the painters Moti Pen and Miri Nishri.
My paintings are executed in acrylic, oil, and watercolors; many are based on photographs taken by me in Israel and abroad.
In 2015 I started sculpting in both clay and stone. We travel many times to Florence, where I sculpt and paint in the Accademia Della Arte and in Modena in-studio loom. In Israel, I sculpt in a class coached by Shlomit Averbuch.
I paint mainly street scenes, architectural elements, and portraits of interesting people and can be commissioned to paint nostalgic family portraits.
