Just as 9/11 left an indelible mark on our lives and the whole world, so did the events of October 7. 2023. We are in a state of shock, stunned by the horrifying acts of terror, the war, the hostages, the relentless rocket attacks on our homes, and the loss of our brothers and sisters in the most horrific way by the terror Hamas organization.
Our hearts are broken, but we are not defeated. These circumstances bring to mind the very foundation of the State of Israel and the enduring principle of “Never again.” This solemn vow, born from past horrors, resounds again, urging us to stand firm, with our heads held high, as we continue to fight for our existence.
As a second-generation Holocaust survivor, the heritage and legacy of being Jewish and the profound significance it carries resurface time and time again. Suddenly, the identity of being a Jew takes on a whole new depth and meaning.
As an Israeli artist, since October 7, the image of the Star of David has become a constant presence in the forefront of my mind. It stands as a powerful symbol, offering protection and instilling hope not only for us but for Jews across the world. “Am Israel chai” – the people of Israel live on, echoing our resilience and unity.
