George Anastasiadis | "Memento Mori", 2022
Original Art. Faber Castell watercolors on canvas.
45 x 35 cm. Signed.
"Memento Mori" ( in Latin ) is an artistic or symbolic trope acting as a reminder of the inevitability of Death.
Here, the crystal ball symbolizes the soul with the shadow underneath it, taking the form of a well-paved road that has reached its end. The Light above the small well represents the transition, the open window, the Heaven represents the feeling of "Justice," and the dark well means eternal oblivion.

George Anastasiadis | "Thinking of...", 2022
Original Art. Watercolors on canvas.
45 x 35 cm. Signed.
"Thoughts and over-analysis... Sad thoughts, as usual. Thinking of... Sad thoughts, as usual...
The contrasts of the brightness of the colors, I think, speak for themselves, the same as my description above... Sad thoughts and, from the side, a little smile... Light and shadows...
Over-analyzing and hypothetical scenarios about things that have yet to happen often (mostly) don't lead to positive conclusions."

George Anastasiadis | "Poupée de cire, poupée de son", 2022
Original Art. Graphite pencil Faber Castell 6B,7B,8B, Pelikan tempera, Acrylic metallic on Bristol paper.
50 x 70 cm. Signed. Framed.
"This artwork is for those who consider themselves strong or are in positions of power. Those who use to exploit young souls consider them wax dolls. Victims' souls and bodies are fragmented. Wounds are often impossible to heal. Human nature will be lost, and human beings will be transformed into wax dolls... straw dolls. Love will be no more. Love is permanently distorted into a misprint.
The lyrics written on the background belong to France Gall's song entitled "Poupée de cire, poupée de son (1965)"

George Anastasiadis | "Requiem for a Dream", 2022
Original Art. Mixed media. Graphite pencils, ink, white charcoal (Stabilo Carbothello) on paper.
50 x 35 cm. Signed.
"Right in the center is a child's face, he holds his fists tight. A headless ancient Greek statue (or, if you want, an old and forgotten wedding dress) stands behind him. Even further back, the black cloak of Death seems to be made of rock. Looks so heavy. All these are parts of the same whole.
Further in the background, the horizon is set by two horizontal white lines tearing the black. The upper half is glowing with fire and smoke. Down is a flat line parallel to the horizon. That particular dream is over. All remains are ashes and despair. So what's left? The Soul. The soul is the fundamental ingredient that dreams are made of."
