Description
Daphne Horev
Engaging with art for me is like diving into my microcosmos self and beyond. To my deepest feeling, the world that surrounds us, flowing through our human prism, giving us its unique human and personal interpretation.
In the interface zone between the raw world of ‘things in themselves’ and the world as we know it, art happens in an alchemical-magical-synergistic process.
I was born and raised in Israel, but I see myself as a global artist who deals with human matters.
Flying cranes that embody for me the spiritual power to make a leap of faith into the unknown often pass through my works.
Primordial conch shells, guarding in their womb the secrets of eons, ripples reflections in which reality becomes an ever-changing impressionist vibration, mythological heroes that emblem in their stories deep existential psyche truths -they all are themes in my art.
I often use gold paint in my works. To me, gold color grants a halo of secular holiness to human wonders, hopes, and doubts. It detaches the subject matter from the realistic context and elevates it to a metaphoric level.
I paint for many years. In recent years I have been using digital tools in my art.
I print my limited edition artworks on different materials such as silver metallic foil, silver metallic rag, plexiglass, and more, in order to get varied qualities and a different appearance and impact.
I turn some of them into mixed media works, adding gold paint and gold leaves. So far, I have exhibited my art in Tel Aviv, Milano, Venice, Rome, Las Vegas, New York, Bogota, and Manila.
My artworks are printed in art magazines like ‘Art International Contemporary,’ ‘Art Market Magazine‘ and ‘Israeli Art Market.’
